Industrial symbiotic networks in the information society

PL Academic Research; Information society and its manifestations; 2017; Authors: Džajić Uršič Erika, Rončević Borut

This paper conceptualizes industrial symbiotic networks (ISNs) and outlines the proposal for an interdisciplinary research program. Industrial symbiotic networks are dynamic, evolving, complex networks that are transcending the boundaries of technical, natural computer and social systems. These came into the focus of scientific research with research on industrial symbiosis since the beginning of the 1990s.

Role of computer software tools in industrial symbiotic networks and the examination of socio-cultural factors

John Wiley & Sons; Environmental progress & sustainable energy; 2019; Authors: Fric Urška, Rončević Borut, Džajić Uršič Erika

The article describes multidimensional networks in an industrial symbiosis that have involved two or more stakeholders in sharing services, utility, or by‐products/waste (material, energy, and water) in order to increase value and reduce financial and environmental costs. Multidimensional networks operate as dynamic complex networks, crossing the boundaries and are formed by natural, technical, social, and computer systems. For a better understanding, there is an outline and review of the benefits of using CS tools in managing industrial symbiotic networks.

Morphogenesis of Industrial Symbiotic Networks

Peter Lang; 2020; Authors: Džajić Uršič Erika

The author proposes a model for the evaluation of the possibilities to establish such industrial symbiosis with a study benchmark of seven industrial symbiotic examples used to build a qualitative multi-criteria decision model for the evaluation of the industrial symbiotic network model. With the data obtained from the best-known industrial symbiotic cases in the world, the author examines the importance of social actors’ involvement in industrial symbiosis both in their industrial and non-industrial technological processes.
